Policy on Plagiarism

At Iconic Open University, academic integrity is of utmost importance. Plagiarism is a serious violation of academic ethics and is not tolerated at our institution. We expect all students to adhere to the highest standards of originality and honesty in their work.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following acts:

1. Copying and pasting content from a source without proper citation.

2. Paraphrasing someone else’s work without proper citation.

3. Presenting someone else’s ideas as your own.

4. Submitting another person’s work as your own.

5. Purchasing or using pre-written essays or assignments.

To prevent plagiarism and promote academic integrity, Iconic Open University has implemented the following policies and measures:

1. Education and Awareness: We provide clear guidelines on what constitutes plagiarism and how to avoid it. Students are required to complete an orientation module that includes information on academic integrity.

2. Plagiarism Detection Software: We use plagiarism detection software to scan all submitted assignments and projects. This software compares the submitted work against a vast database of published sources, including books, journals, websites, and other student papers.

3. Faculty Support and Guidance: Our faculty members play a crucial role in preventing plagiarism. They are responsible for educating students on referencing and citation styles, providing guidance on how to properly attribute sources, and evaluating assignments for any signs of plagiarism.

4. Penalties for Plagiarism: If a student is found to have plagiarized, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. Penalties for plagiarism may include, but are not limited to, receiving a failing grade for the assignment, being required to redo the assignment, or being subject to academic penalties such as probation or dismissal from the university.

We strongly encourage all students at Iconic Open University to familiarize themselves with our policies on plagiarism and to seek guidance from faculty or support staff if they have any questions or concerns about avoiding plagiarism. By upholding the principles of academic integrity, we can ensure a fair and valuable learning experience for all students.
