Master of Crime Management & Security Studies

The Master of Crime Management and Security Studies at Iconic University is a 3-semester professional master’s programme that offers students a comprehensive understanding of the complex and dynamic world of crime and security in today’s society. This programme is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing careers in law enforcement, civil-military relations, immigration and border security, narcotics and drug enforcement, correctional services, financial crime investigation and prevention, customs administration, civil guard and security management, aviation security, transportation and road safety management, and criminal law and security studies. Throughout the course, students will develop critical thinking skills and a theoretical and practical understanding of crime and security management strategies. Students will also have the opportunity to specialize in one of the ten areas listed above. The programme aims to prepare graduates for diverse and challenging roles in the field of crime management and security by providing them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Programme Overview

The Master of Crime Management and Security Studies at Iconic University is a 3-semester professional master’s programme that offers students a comprehensive understanding of the complex and dynamic world of crime and security in today’s society. This programme is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing careers in law enforcement, civil-military relations, immigration and border security, narcotics and drug enforcement, correctional services, financial crime investigation and prevention, customs administration, civil guard and security management, aviation security, transportation and road safety management, and criminal law and security studies. Throughout the course, students will develop critical thinking skills and a theoretical and practical understanding of crime and security management strategies. Students will also have the opportunity to specialize in one of the ten areas listed above. The programme aims to prepare graduates for diverse and challenging roles in the field of crime management and security by providing them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Master of Security Studies (Criminal Law and Security Management)

The programme focuses on the study of crime and security, including theories of criminal behavior, legal frameworks, and security policies. Admission Requirements

Entry Criteria

To be admitted for this programme, candidate must have 5 O’Level credits passes in English Language, Mathematics, including any other 3 subjects. In addition to the O’Level requirement above, candidate is expected to:
a.) Have a minimum of second class (lower division) of a first degree in Management or Social Science.
b.) Have a first degree with third class plus 5 years post-graduation experience or HND plus a university PGD at credit level pass, (i.e., CGPA of 3.0/5.0) or 50% on weighted percentage average may be considered for admission.
c.) Security personnel with degree/HND plus PGD from disciplines other than Management and Social Science with at least 2 years working experience can be considered for admission in the relevant specialization.
d.) Present NYSC certificate (discharge, exemption or exclusion) for Nigerian candidates.

Note: Only certificates recognized by the Senate of Iconic University will be granted admissions.

Admission Notice

No JAMB examination or score is required for the Master of Crime Management & Security Studies programme at Iconic Open University. Admitted students will only be required to register with JAMB for the regularization of their admission as Open University students.

Tuition and payment

Iconic University charges modest fees that give learners the chance to pay per semester only. Nigerian candidates seeking admission will pay an application fee of N15,000 and $50 would be paid by international applicants.

Semester Fees are charged based on the human development index (HDI) of country of residence.
