B.Sc. Public Health

B.Sc. Public Health is a 400–level undergraduate programme which provides students with a comprehensive understanding of health and healthcare delivery from an international, public health perspective. It explores the social, economic, environmental, and political factors that influence health, and provides students with a strong foundation in public health research, policy, and practice. The programme covers a range of topics, such as health promotion and disease prevention, epidemiology, health economics and management, health policy and health informatics, and provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful public health professionals.

Programme Overview

Programme Objectives

The objectives of the programme are to:

Enable students acquire competences in public health, carry out community diagnosis, immunisation, community mobilisation, health education and apply statistical and mathematical methods to the design and analysis of public health problems;
Enable students conduct biomedical research, nutrition and growth monitoring, environmental monitoring, and disease surveillance; and
Prepare public health professionals to take up effective leadership and management position in the community, workplaces, school settings and health centres and health care institutions.

Admission Requirements

Entry Criteria

Admission into Iconic University for bachelor’s degree does not require JAMB result, but candidates will be asked to get a JAMB regularisation number upon successful admission in order to be used for his/her NYSC at the time of graduation.

100 Level (Freshman)

Candidates seeking admission into the programme must have at least five credit passes at the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/NECO/GCE) examinations in English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science, Chemistry, Physics, or any other Science subject.

200/300 Level (Sophomores)

Five (5) credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NBAIS, NABTEB or similar bodies as recognised. The credit passes must include English Language, Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Health Science, at not more than two sittings.
In addition to (1) above, applicants must present all programmes certificates which include; BSc, HND, NCE, ND OND and technical certificate.
An additional qualification from any health-related discipline such as Community Health Officer Training certificate (CHO), NCE (Physical/Health Education, Science Education, Nutrition, Home Economics, Food Science) Health Superintendent, Registered Nurse (RN), Physiology, Medical Laboratory Science, etc.
The B.Sc. holders should possess a minimum of third class, HND holders should possess a minimum of lower credit, NCE must possesses a minimum of merit pass and ND & OND should possess a minimum of lower credit in order to be eligible for admission.

Programme Fees

Tuition and payment

Iconic University charges modest fees that gives learner the opportunity to pay registration fee per semester only. Nigerian candidates who living in Nigeria and are seeking for admission will pay an application fee of N10,000 only, other International candidates as well as Nigerians in diaspora will pay $30 equivalent rate to the currency of the country they live.

Semester Fees:

Semester Fees for students living outside Nigeria are charged based on the human development index (HDI) of country of residence.

Fees are categorised into:

01Nigerians living in Nigeria only: N135,000 (payment of practical/practicum/SIWES/project courses or hardcopy course materials is exclusive)
02Anyone living in Very High Development Countries (International Students): $750 or equivalent
03Anyone living in High Development Countries (International Students): $600 or equivalent
04Anyone living in Medium Development Countries (International Students): $500 or equivalent
05Anyone living in Low Development Countries (International Students): $400 or equivalent
06Anyone living in “other countries” (International Students): $350 or equivalent
