The Department of Nursing Science at Iconic Open University is a distinguished academic unit dedicated to preparing competent, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing professionals through flexible, technology-driven learning. As part of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, the Department offers the Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.) programme at the undergraduate level, designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, patient care, nursing ethics, and public health, along with the practical skills necessary to provide holistic care across diverse healthcare settings.

Demonstrating its commitment to academic excellence, the Department has successfully undergone advisory visit/resource verification by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to secure accreditation for its programme, having gotten the approval to admit registered midwives at 100 level, ensuring graduates meet national standards and are eligible for professional licensure. With a vision to be a centre of excellence in nursing and public health, leading the way in healthcare delivery, research, and education, the Department prepares graduates to excel in various sectors, including hospitals and healthcare facilities, government health ministries, public health organizations, educational institutions, research centres, and international health agencies, driving quality patient care and advancing population health across Nigeria and beyond.
