
Iconic Open University invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Practicum/Field Work/SIWES/Projects Supervisors.
This engagement is open to:
- Current Iconic University lecturers across all departments;
- Academics who are willing to join Iconic University as permanent, part-time, or visiting lecturers.
We are seeking dedicated individuals to mentor, guide, and evaluate students across the underlisted departments. This is a critical role aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical industry application.

Engagement Model & Timeline
- Period: 13 Weeks (3 Months) per semester.
- Duration of Engagement: Temporary/Contractual for the duration of the special courses period per semester.
- Work Mode: Hybrid (Physical meetings required for scheduled sessions, with online support for daily reporting).
General Responsibilities & Expectations
Supervisors are expected to be highly organized, communicative, and committed to student development. Key responsibilities include:
- Student Mentorship: Provide professional guidance, support, and constructive feedback to assigned students.
- Report Review: Conduct a daily review and evaluation of all assigned students’ daily reports. Provide timely feedback to students where necessary.
- Progress Monitoring: Ensure students are on track to meet course/practicum objectives and learning outcomes.
- Reporting: Compile and submit students’ bi-weekly progress reports to the Department Coordinator every Saturday before 4:00 PM (twice a month) during the departmental review meeting.
- Final Evaluation: Participate in the end-of-course presentation and evaluation of students as a member of a panel of supervisors.
Mandatory Supervision Meetings
To ensure cohesive management and quality assurance, all supervisors must adhere to the following meeting schedule:
Supervisor-Students Meeting: Monday & Friday, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Review weekly goals, address student challenges, and ensure alignment with practicum requirements.
Departmental Meeting with Supervisors: Biweekly on Saturday, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Discuss student progress, resolve systemic issues, and align assessment standards.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A minimum of a Master’s Degree in a relevant field of study. A Ph.D. is an added advantage.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 2–4 years of relevant industry or academic supervisory experience.
- Industry Knowledge: Demonstrable expertise in the specific field of application (e.g., Health Sciences, Information Technology, Business Administration, etc.).
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Availability: Must be available for the full duration of the 12-week programme and all scheduled meetings per semester.
- Affiliation: Must be either a current lecturer at Iconic University or an academic willing to join the university as a permanent, part-time, or visiting lecturer.
Remuneration & Administrative Allowance
Iconic University offers a competitive administrative allowance to compensate supervisors for their time and expertise. Remuneration is calculated on a per-student headcount basis, depending on the nature of the programme (Postgraduate or Undergraduate).
Note: The specific headcount allowance rates for each programme (NSC, CHS, PHS, HIM, IFT & SEN, PGDI, MIT, SIWES, PG Capstone, etc.) will be communicated to shortlisted candidates during the engagement briefing.
