About this department

The Department of Islamic Studies at Iconic Open University is a distinguished academic unit dedicated to fostering deep understanding, critical inquiry, and ethical application of Islamic knowledge through flexible, technology-driven learning. As part of the Faculty of Arts and Education, the Department offers programmes including the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Islamic Studies at the undergraduate level with specialization in Islamic Sheri’ah, as well as postgraduate programmes designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge of Islamic theology, jurisprudence, history, philosophy, and contemporary issues affecting Muslim societies.

The Department is committed to producing competent scholars, educators, religious leaders, and community development practitioners through innovative teaching, rigorous research, and community engagement, with a focus on transforming lives through technology and promoting interfaith understanding, moral values, and social cohesion.
